Into the wilderness, Wadi Rum – Jordan

This is a stupendous, timeless place, virtually untoched by humanity and it`s destructive forces. Here, it is the weather and winds that have carved the imposing towering skyscrapers.”                                                                            T.E Lawrence

When we were in Jordan my dad and I decided that we should go out into the Wadi Rum desert.  We left very early in the morning at four because we had booked a trip with a airballon, and the plan was to see the sunrise from it. Out in the desert it was surprisingly cold before the sun had risen, quite windy but otherwise peaceful. We did follow the whole process when the balloon was put together and blown up.  Without air the balloon is extremely long!

Later in the day we rented four-wheelers with a young guide and drove after him into the wilderness. Up and down the dunes and we really got to see the area in an amazing way. This is something I would recommend anyone going to Jordan to do, you get a completely different insight. We also stopped at the caves and different beduintents and talked to people. The different rock formations and the play of colors in nature around you is abbsolutly worth a days trip.
